Maud is a female warrior. The name Maud means ‘mighty in battle’. The name derives from Old High German name “Mahthilt”, which combines two Ancient Germanic elements: “*mahti” (might, power, ability) and “*hildio” (battle, fight)

All of Maud’s physician services are covered by provincial healthcare! Our private services include: Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy, Nutrition and EMSELLA By Maud.
Do I need a referral to seek treatment at Maud?
Maud Medical Clinic physicians accept both self-referrals and physician referrals. We believe in accessible healthcare. So anybody can request their own appointment and see our doctor.
The advantage of a formal physician referral would be so that our doctors at Maud Medical Clinic can share our interaction with your family doctor. This way, women have the option to see us only for a PAP test, and their family doctor will remain informed.
When should I see a doctor at Maud?
Women seek advice from our physicians at Maud Medical for all things related to vaginal / gynecological health.
Period pain, menstrual cycle care and comfort, Pelvic pain, pain during intercourse, Pre-menopause, post-partum body, sexual wellness, sexual function, vaginal smells, general vaginal wellness, STIs, routine PAP smear screening, HPV vaccinations, incontinence, prolapse, and pelvic injuries, are some of the things our doctors at Maud can provide help and advice for.

If I am able to refer myself for an appointment, what would be the benefit of my family doctor faxing a referral?
Physician referral requests open the communication between Maud doctors and your family doctor. The formal referral request allows our clinicians to share chart notes, diagnoses and treatment plans with your family doctor.
We understand not everyone has a family doctor, but for those that do, this format provides optimal care as your family doctor would continue to manage your health.

Do you offer cosmetic vaginal treatments?
The main focus of Maud Medical Clinic is to advance vaginal health and education. We believe we are all made perfect just as we are. We do not offer cosmetic services for the vulva. We welcome individuals to see our physicians for educational and medical purposes and to learn about the safety of cosmetic treatment available in Calgary. We can also assist in referring individuals to other specialists.
PAP Smear Screening:
A pap test is a test is used to check for the presence of any abnormal cells that may be present on your cervix, we are able to prevent the majority of cervical cancer cases by having women screened regularly.
Pap tests are currently available to all cervix owners who are between the ages of 25+ or 3 years after sexual activity in Alberta, and it is recommend to be done every three years in average-risk women, or sooner if you have an abnormal result that requires follow-up.
Any female who has engaged in sexual activity, which is defined as any form of vaginal intercourse, vaginal/oral or vaginal/digital intercourse would be eligible for a pap test.
This test is encouraged for every woman irrespective of whom they have intercourse with.

If you are sexually active, it is recommended to see a sexual function physician at Maud Medical Clinic to learn how to protect your health.
